Even the UK is gradually winding down their service, with it only staying available on analogue only with no migration to digital. It is only a matter of time before teletext as it exists today will be obselete. There also exists TABTEXT which is carried on SKY channel only, for distribution to NSW TAB and CLUB TAB outlets in NSW. The teletext service carried on STW9 is WA TAB info, which is not carried by the AUSTEXT service. The Finance people have long since migrated to the paid subscription MARKETCAST teletext service which these days is transmitted via SBS analogue under contract. AUSTEXT is now mostly supported by the TAB and the Weather Bureau. Nine and Ten once had teletext as did the ABC which used the french FLORICAL system. Prior to being called AUSTEXT, it was SEVENTEL in Brisbane and SEVENTEXT in Sydney. Am I missing something obvious, have tried channel 1, 101, 231 etc where I know there is a live teletext feed and have made sure I'm on a terrestrial transmission but this has me completely stumped, any. The TELETEXT Android app is faster and just as up-to-date as the real TELETEXT on TV. I havent paid sufficient attention to whether some channels have only one or the other. The popular TELETEXT is also available for Android smartphones. AUSTEXT is the only mainstream one to still be in existance, due to grandfathering clauses that are tied in with BTQ7 Brisbane where the AUSTEXT mainframe still pumps out what is now known as AUSTEXT. I know teletext is still being broadcast as I can access it on a small TV in the bedroom but would love to be able to access it on the main TV. My HD FreeSat box has options for Subtitles and Teletext Subtitles. All the metro networks have had teletext of some form or another over the years, mosly in the 1970's and early 80's.
